Help! Novice baker and I am making a small wedding cake that requires "sugared fruit".

Recipe calls for sanding sugar. Can I use sparkling sugar to give the fruit a lil more "sparkle"?

Will they come out the same? Or should I stick with sanding...or mix and use both?
