How do I get buttercream icing silver? I want to make silver icing for my Colts cookie cake but I'm not sure how to make silver. Wilton.com says they advise against silver. What should I do?

You could cover your cake in Fondant and paint it with silver luster dust. YOu can also paint on BC but is is much harder and much more time consuming. I have silver luster dust and it works great, comew out nice and shiny.

I recently made a "Matrix" cake that I wanted grey/silver...I iced it in plain white buttercream, then did a thin spray of black Cake Mist (I'm too cheap for an airbrush so far). It wasn't as shiny as luster dust, but it was very easy and cheap.

To make silver use a very tiny amt of black and a very tiny amt of royal blue, it will make a silver gray. It takes very little color.
