I want to do a joke cheesecake for Moms birthday, just frost a regular cake, do piping , and put mice around it (Choc covered cherries, choc kiss for face and sliced almonds for ears ...really cute and they keep well) even with a few poppy seeds for turds. We must be realistic (my Happy Spring Slug cake, complete with slug trail and dandelion leaves half eaten was....well, one of a kind) Here is my deliemma.....I want a few pieces of cheese to go with the mice, but dont really want to put real cheese on the cake, it doesnt mix well for taste. Anyone have a simple idea for cheese? Thanks I dont have to do it for a few weeks, just have it in my head right now.

get some yellow fondant and mold the cheese out of it..and place it around..you can even get a pack of it , some black and make the mice holes..

If you take a peek at The christmas cherry mice attack! in my photos, you'll see that I used WRAPPED cheese. It was on a table not a cake, but maybe you could use the same type of look?... http://www.cakecentral.com/cake-photo-91712.html

I bet marzipan would make a pretty good looking cheese...it's very firm to work with, would hold "swiss" holes pretty well.

Fondant would be easy to mold into little peices of cheese!

I just wanted to add that the chocolate sprinkles like you put on ice cream make perfect mouse droppings. I made a cake for my sister and used those. they look exactly like the real thing!

Ya' know, who would think that knowing how to make edible fake mouse droppings would be a useful trivia fact! Only on CC! icon_biggrin.gif
