I am looking for a good recipe that uses a cake mix for 3D cakes. (for a large pup tent cake) I see one here that says for 3 d cakes but it doesnt have temp to cook at or times or anything. Has anyone tried this recipe for carving a 3 d cake?

A pound cake is what I use for carving cakes. Dense and still moist.

Look on the side of your cake mix. There are some posted on Duncan Hines that I use.

I posted a recipe http://www.cakecentral.com/cake_recipe-1972-0-Durable-Cake-for-3D-and-Wedding-Cakes.html that you could possibly use. It uses a duncan hines cake mix with a few extra items and makes the cake a bit thicker - more pound cake like. You could try it. Please let me know how it goes.

oh and it's baked the same as it states on the side of the duncan hines box. I can't figure out how to fix the recipe on this site.
