Hi CC'ers! Well I think I have my first Wedding cake order for August! (my daughter is a BM! and all her friends love my cakes) Anyway, the BrideToBe wants a Marble Cake and has said I have creative freedom!

Please Please can you give my any tips or suggestions for enhancing the flavor of this cake. I typically use DH mixes, but I am open to any and all suggestions. Should I use the extender?? What is a great filling to go with marble cake?

I really need this to be the best tasting moistest cake ever! (I plan to practice between now and August!). TIA icon_smile.gif

I am sorry that I am the first one replying to this post cause I am the worst for thinking of flavor combinations. I would look in the gallery and type in marble cake cause there are a ton of people on here that use that kind of cake, and see what filling they used. I don't cause no one had ever asked for it, but I would think something like chocolate/hazlenut or chocolate/coffee for a filling on one layer, and maybe something white for another layer like vanilla cream or cream cheese. Just something to think about.

What type of marbling does she want? I have used strawberry and french vanilla, raspberry and dark chocolate, white chocolate and raspberry, carmel and bavarian cream also. So did she specify any hting else besides marble?

Definitely use the cake mix extender. Not only will you get more batter but it will taste much better than the DH by itself.

by Marble I meant yellow and Chocolate? Has anyone used the cake extender PLUS a box of pudding or do you think this would be a total disaster??

The most popular marbled flavour at the moment for my clients is either white choc and irish cream or white choc and mango.
But you cant go passed the old classic of white choc and kahlua mud ( To bring out a really rich dark choc look and to keep it moist i add a little bit of vinagar)... thumbs_up.gif

This is a very interesting topic. I'd like to know more. I've never made anything but a yellow and chocolate marble. Guess I'm not very imaginative. icon_razz.gif

Tell me how you make flavor that you use to marble the cake? What do you use? I've only used the chocolate packet that you mix with a cup of batter and swirl in. Like, how do you make a kahlua mud or mango or raspberry??

Also what is the secret to marbling? I get a pretty good marbling on the top, but not so much on the bottom and all through out. I do it the way that the box cakes say - drop spoonfuls on top and swirl with a knife.
