boween, thanks for sharing your cakes with us. i read in another post that you charge $1.00 per slice.....and i must say that is crazy girlfriend!!! your cakes are wonderful and for that price you are almost giving it away!
you need a price increase. go up just a little at a time so your customers dont have an attack, but please charge what you are worth!!!! i am saying this to you as the queeen of undercharging!
have a great week!

I know this sounds sooo cheap but that is what the going rate is where I live, I have called other cake decorators and compared with our grocery stores. Iam a bit higher!!! I wish I could charge a bit more, I have increased my cakes this year about $5 per cake!!!! Iam breaking them in slowly!!! I appreciate your thoughts!!!
Your cakes are absolutly beautiful. The book cake with the dragon is amazing! That one went into my favorites for sure! ![]()

boween, you have a true talent for this profession!!!!!!! On average, how long does it take you to decorate a cake (I know each one is unique) and how many cake orders will you take for a weekend? I envy your wonderful work space
I love looking at your work!
Boween, You catch my almost three years old daughters heart.
She is just creasy about Dora.
And I show her your Dora cake and she was just .............u know, just creasy.
So I have decide I am going to make Dora cake on her third birthday.

Thanks for all of your kind words they are always appreciated. I try very hard to create great cakes, somedays are better than others!!! It takes me awhile to do a cake, I usually decorate three a day starting on Wednesday. the first part of my week is getting ready, baking making icing and making what I need to make. Last minute orders sometimes get slighted because I don't really have time to dream anything up!!!!
I ice all the cakes for the day, put in fridge then start decorating one by one!! Some of the more detailed ones like the hummer and Thomas the train take longer about 2 hours!! Iam still really new to using fondant so I have to think my way thru!!! I avrage about 10 cakes a week, just a few times during the year is it quiet!!! Thanks again for all the compliments, your opinions of my work help keep me going!!!
everytime I look at your cakes I think..."I want to be her!!!" ![]()
Your style, the look of your cakes is everything I want to do... not too artsy where you know it's still cake, but creative, unique, clean and something you won't find nearly anywhere else in your area I'm certain.
So you start baking on Wednesday, huh?? I think this is what I am most nervous about if ever I get going with this.. I am so afraid to bake a cake too early and have someone say it wasn't fresh or have it alter the taste or moisture. Even now when I am just doing family and friends I think I bake too late and shaft myself on decorating time. I just want the darn thing to taste perfect. ![]()
What do you do with cakes that are baked on Wednesday or Thursday for the weekend to make sure they stay great??? Obviously they do for the volume you are doing.
Do you bake from scratch?? This is something I am trying to do, which makes me even more stressed about the freshness factor.
Thanks so much!! ![]()
scoobam,
I also bake my cakes a few days early. I hate that panic feel of making sure I have enough time for everything. I have never gotten anyone to say my cakes were not fresh tasting. I bake them and freeze them, and they work great. Hope this helps. Keli
Your use of color on your cakes is wonderful. The one sheet that is frosted on top w/4 colors, is awesome.
Boween If you could see my face expression when I seen your cakes.. It would have looked like this ![]()
