i have two 10-inch featherweight bags from the Wilton student kits and would like to get more, but i'm not sure which size i should get. i just bought an 8-inch Ateco bag too and it doesn't seem as durable as the Wiltons. what size bag do you use the most and which brand do you prefer? thanks for your help!
Hello and welcome to Cakecentral!
I find that the CK products brand bag works best for me. They are very durable and the Logo is bright red and doesn't seem to fade, which makes it real easy to see which side it the outside..so no need to worry if the bag is inside out or not! I don't use the 8" too much because if I don't need much icing of one color then it's easier just to use a parchment bag. I get more use out of the 10", 12" and 21" bags..found the 24" to be too big to handle.
I like using th plastic bags just for convienence. I hate washing all the different bags out, so it is easier to just through them away. But I do use the wilton ones and I think the bigger bags are better, like the 10" or the 12". Hope this helps. Keli
I love a 12" bag. I like the wilton but I have used the cheeper ones from pfil and holing.com. I like the dosposibles but I don't feel I get enought control with them. I have found that washing them has become eaiser with time. I use hot soapy water and turn them inside out. They soak a little bit then I just use me hand to rub off the frosting. A good bad will still have the silky feel to the inside of the bag. I stand them up on a towel to dry. Really works great. I do have larger bags for larger tips using the larger cuplers. You should also have a large bag for the cake icer tip, which I do not use a cupler for. That bag is used just for that purpose.
