I need to do a "Sea World" cake. She wants dolphin or whales in water. I made a dolphin out of MMF and its drying but its not a "jumping" dolphin so I'll need to put him underwater.

My question is, I wonder if an edible image (frosting sheet-not rice paper) would work underneath a layer of lightly tinted blue gel?? Or, would the colors bleed into the gel over a few hours.

I could print fish or something swimming underwater, then use MMF to create a dolphin or two jumping out of the water. It sounds like a cool idea but I don't know if it will work.

What do you think??

maybe you could email/PM Lisa.....she knows a lot about edible imaging and that kind of stuff... I am sure there are others out there that would know too, but she was the first person I thought of.....in my opinion, I do think the gel would make the image bleed, but I havent done those YET.

How about making the sea creatures in color flow. You can make them in advance. You can gat patterns from a coloring book or just a free style drawing. They will be very sturdy and can be placed anywhere on the cake.
Hope that helps.
