How Do I Stack A 2 Tier Cake?

I'm making a baby shower cake for tomorrow.. (for my own shower.. lol practice is practice!) .. and i have no idea how to stack the 2 layers.. i don't have any of thoes plastic plate thingy's only a cardboard one... i read somewhere you can sprinkle some icing sugar underneath the top layer so it dosn't stick to the other cake.. is this true?... HELP!

you need to use some sort of support in the bottom layer or it will sink right through. I use the paper suckers sticks. You can get them at your craft store or walmart. Then the cardboard seperator will work fine. Good luck. Sorry you are making your own cake, but atleast you will know it is good!! Keli

Also, unless your cardboard cake board is waxy, you may want to cover it with wax paper or plastic wrap, so it it doesn't get greasy & soggy.

One more thing...I made my own baby shower cake, too. Chocolate raspberry cheesecake. YUMMMMMMY!!!!

oooh i have thoes sucker sticks.. i was hoping i could use them!

I use them all the time, I find them much easier than cutting dowels! Also congrats with the baby. Keli

I have used plastic straws. But only if it isn't more than two tiers, otherwise it won't hold.
