Well what does she like? hobbies, favorite colors, flowers?

I think a pretty cake with flowers is always a hit with moms. I have seen a few flower pot cakes that look cool. I would like to do one for my mom someday

40..... oh, over the hill....
Could do a dirt cake in a flower pot with some black over the hill florals. Sock a little brite red in it somewhere, and a cute little message about "sexy after 40 is not just a frame of mind"!!!
After all the 40th just has to be a little fun.

Hi Jami,

Well, Valentine's Day is Feb. 14, and Mardi Gras is Feb. 20, so I would pick one of those celebrations as a theme.

I like the over the hill thing also. But is your mom having a hard time of turning the BIG 40?? If so do something upbeat and fun. Are you having a big party or are you just giving it to her as your gift??

How about one of the bubble bath cakes? There are several in the galleries that are awesome!

How about make the cake look like a vase and put 40 candy roses coming out. I would use a 3d rose mold. Good Luck.
