My clients wants a cake that combines a real cake and a decorated dummy cake to have a larger centrepiece for her dessert table. I have never decorated a styrafoam cake before.  I am wondering should my real cake (which will be 8" or 9") be on top of or under the styrafoam cake? which is better for stably? and are there any things I should watch out for when combing a real and a pretend cake together? Thanks!!

It will save you a lot of work if you put a real cake on top of the fake one, plus you will have to bake a smaller cake. Dummy cakes are stable and sturdy. Just put the real cake on a cake board and some ganache between the two cakes to prevent sliding.
