Help! Army Cake Need To Do Combat Boots

I have a military cake and it is a half sheet that will have combat boots on to with a hat and a flag! Im having trouble with the boots i tried going out of rice crisps but as soon as its time to put fondant on it i get lost and feel like its not looking the way it should. can anyone help? does anyone have any advice? or tutorials?
