I've just completed a 21st cake that required plain silver-leaf applied to the whole fondant-covered middle tier. I ordered 5x5cm sheets, but the supplier sent gold instead of silver! So my only option was to use what I had of the 2.5x2.5cm silver leaf that I had on hand. I used a super soft brush to apply the leaf and then gave it a final polish with the brush, but what remained visible were the outlines of the sheets and it gave the cake a "patchwork" appearance.
Is there a way to avoid this? I was hoping for a more solid/plain metallic silver effect.
up in the kitchen!!!
