I use:
1 cup butter (salted),.
8 cups powered sugar
2 tsp Vanilla,
1 cup Shortening
2 tsp water
Now I love this recipe, but after I use my VIva to smooth it, decorate it and box it. The next day or hours later when I pick the cake up I notice the icing cracks and it's ugly.
Is there anything to prevent this?
are you using a very stiff unbendable board under your cake? any bit of flex can cause this
Yes I think, just the cardboard I get from Joanns stores.
Definitely what K8 said. I use to have the same problem until I started using cake drums or masonite boards to put my cakes on. If there is any give to the support whatsoever, it will crack.
Ok. Yes I'm just starting out and I will start gluing them together or find a better board.
Thanks!! :)
