WOW!!! That's alot....I would start with musical notes. How about the instruments, could you use them somehow? Or a silawet(sp), like the old time jazz singers? Just a couple of little thoughts, sorry I couldn't help much.

If you go to Beryls.com, there are lots of music chocolate transfer sheets. Maybe you could use those?
They make a cake look spectacular!

I'd go with the musical notes idea. They can be in different colors, too. For cookies, you can get cutters that are musical notes. You could cover them in different colors of icing to match the ones on the cake. You could also attach some of the cookies to sticks and put them in the cake, standing straight up.

What about a jukebox (sp?)? Then put wires comming out of it with notes, a piano, guitar, etc? Like the items are flying out of it! You could even do it on a flat cake too.

Good luck!

Wow - sounds really neat. Does the event have a poster you could copy or get ideas off of? That would be where I would start. I love the musical note cookies - very cool. Let us know how it turns out.

I have an idea on what you can do for the sides of the cake.

I was thinking you can make different music instroments on the sides of the cake (make them with fondent), then add musical notes going up the cake with gold/black icing- of course on that using pastry bag & tip.

just thought of this--maybe for the top of the cake you could incorporate different people from each genre of music.

I like that idea, & just thought of both..

Hope this helps
