I've just been asked to do a cake for an insigned artists music event. And I am lost for ideas. Theres so much I need to put into the cake, The event is for solo singers, bands, rockers, R&B, theres going to be loads of different styles and instruments. Its for 300 people so I guess I'll have enough room to get it all on!!! Any ideas?? I also have to make music cookies any ideas for them? Please help me
WOW!!! That's alot....I would start with musical notes. How about the instruments, could you use them somehow? Or a silawet(sp), like the old time jazz singers? Just a couple of little thoughts, sorry I couldn't help much.

I'd go with the musical notes idea. They can be in different colors, too. For cookies, you can get cutters that are musical notes. You could cover them in different colors of icing to match the ones on the cake. You could also attach some of the cookies to sticks and put them in the cake, standing straight up.
What about a jukebox (sp?)? Then put wires comming out of it with notes, a piano, guitar, etc? Like the items are flying out of it! You could even do it on a flat cake too.
Good luck!
Thanks everyone Loads of great ideas. I think the music note cookies are great. I seen a cake I really like I think I can adapt it abit to make it work. Let me know what you think!!!!

I have an idea on what you can do for the sides of the cake.
I was thinking you can make different music instroments on the sides of the cake (make them with fondent), then add musical notes going up the cake with gold/black icing- of course on that using pastry bag & tip.
just thought of this--maybe for the top of the cake you could incorporate different people from each genre of music.
I like that idea, & just thought of both..
Hope this helps
