I have been shopping for a KA mixer for a while. I've been drooling for one for even longer! So my MIL agrees to get me one for Valentine's Day, my birthday, anniversary, Easter, Halloween......etc. So I originally told her I was going to get the artisan at Target since they had it in red. But, alas, they were out of them today. So when I got home, I had spam from Chefs.com so I decided to chase that rabbit. I thought I had found a steal in a bowl-lift 450 watt stainless steel version for the $299 I was going to pay for the artisan at Target. I had free shipping for it & no sales tax either. I was going to go ahead and order the shield for it which made the order $319. On a whim, I checked amazon.com. Here's what I got:

http://www.amazon.com/dp/B000LSIPH6/?tag=cakecentral-20

It's a 6qt. bowl lift, 450 watt, comes with the cover deluxe KA stand mixer. They were out of the red so I got the imperial gray. Did I get taken? It was $269 but had free shipping and if you ordered anything from their kitchen/bath dept. over $125 you get an extra $25 off. So, I paid $244 for it. Now I realize the link says $259 since they dropped the price on me $10 in the hour since I ordered it. Oh, well, MIL money not mine. tapedshut.gif Was this as good a deal as I think it is or is this some reject model that I'm getting taken on?

there is a here for a discussion about this mixer/deal. There is some uncertainty as to whether it is refurbished or not, given that it has 90 day warranty vs. the std. 1 year usually on the KA mixers. Couldn't tell you anything is true or not.

don't worry about "deal" or "no deal." you bought it, you want it, you'll love it. So, you got a deal.

I'm gonna see if I can locate that discussion, but would you mind linking to it for me. I thought the same thing on the warranty but usually they are really good about boldly stating if it is a referb. I'll let you guys know, it's already shipped and will be here on Tues or Wed.

OK, I still couldn't find a thread here for that discussion, but here's what I found on the web. If that is correct on the amazon site about the warranty, it is probably a deal amazon made with KA in order to be able to drop the price. If a mixer is referb, it has an R in front of the model #. And, when I type in that model # to the KA website, it won't bring anything up. So, that says to me that it is a new mixer, but with a shortened warranty and was thus given a specific model # for amazon's product. Not sure how I feel about this.

I am upset that I missed an even better deal for a Pro 600 shipped from amazon for $270. The post I found on a price watch site was from 1/19 and I placed my order on 1/25. When I checked that Pro 600 today, the price had jumped like $35 so it came out to be a good deal, but not great. I kinda wished I would have seen it before I ordered this one, but I can only research for so long before I just have to buy it! icon_rolleyes.gif

amazon usually stated if it was a refurbished model, so if that wasnt there then its new.

you will love it either way

Well, ladies, I have received my new KA mixer. When I looked through the paperwork, it said it had a 1 year normal warranty. So I contacted amazon.com who then verified that it came with the normal manufacturers warranty, whatever was stated in the paperwork. So, I think I did pretty well on my purchase. It's PRETTY! It's not smooth, it's that annodized grey. The bowl is HUGE!!!! I'm going to use it tonight on my first cake since getting it. Wish me luck!
