I think as far as flavoring, I bet you could just try about anything liquid..It all my be just to your taste.. Amaretto is not one of my favorites.. Plus it's a little strong for me so I am looking for something Non Alcoholic.
Has anyone ever tried those coffee syrups vanilla and hazelnut... found some at Albertsons and thought hmmm

I've used rum (Bacardi white, but you could use any) in cake balls more than I have Amaretto - my granny used to make something called Rum Balls when I was little and they remind me of them.
The rum is really good if you mix in some Andes mint chocolate pieces as well... mmmmm...
