Hello., I am making another Louis Vuitton purse...(I received the instructions from Cambo..Hers is great)
It is 2 loaf pans...and a 3D purse..I orginally told the customer $60. For which I have sold others before...And now ...Right before I go to decorate..She said..."that maybe she or I was wrong..and she has never paid more then $1-$2 per slice before!"

So, question...How much would you charge for this cake?
and How much would it serve?
Thank you so much...I know I can count on you all...ANd I desperately need your help!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

2 loaf pans, all that fondant, all that work? $60 at least! Feeds roughly 25+ people? Its not like you are slapping some buttercream on it and a few roses.

Hold your ground! $60!!!!

Just off hand, if it were mine, my fondant cakes start at $3.50 a serving, and for carving or detail work I'd add at least .25 to .50, so she'd be at $3.75 to $4 per sv. $60 is probably just fine, certainly not less!

No idea how many it would serve, though.

I think that you are crazy to even do it for $60, I would charge 80-100. That has a lot of fondant work. Not to mentoin all the time that it takes. Well, you quoted her and stick to that. She will be lucky to get it for that in my opinion.

Good Luck

a word to the wise

Write up a contract stating what will go into the cake design and what it will cost (not what it *might* cost) up front and have them sign it (even if you have to email it and have them fax it back), so there is no "Oh, maybe I misunderstood you...I thought you said $xxx")

I hate when customers backpedal after the work has been done. icon_mad.gif Tell her that at your "usual price" it would be $100 for 25 servings, but since you quoted her $60 already, you'll honor that--make her feel like she's getting a deal.

Not only would I hold my ground at $60, I'd add a $50 bitch fee.
