What recipe for the buttercream are you using? Did you use a margarine or shortening?
Do you usually have "hot hands"?
You could try refrigerating your piping bags after you fill them to help keep them cooler...
Or keep something cold to hold in your hand occasionally to cool them off...
you could add some cornstarch to give it some body
I use Earth Balance soy free for my "butter" and crisco. I hate to use crisco but it just won't stand up if I don't. Then keep your buttercream and your hands cold as mentioned above. Also, make it a little stiffer than you would otherwise for piping because it does go soft faster than dairy butter. Keeping your hands cooled in ice water is key!
