Any ideas on how I can duplicate the pattern on this cake? It looks as though a stencil was used but I can't find anything even remotely similar and I don't trust myself to be able to free hand it. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated!

ALooks like fondant cutouts to me. You could make a pattern and cut with an Xacto.

after that chill them slightly so they don't stretch when you pick them up they're kind of big or use modeling chocolate
