HI y'all,
I had a quick question about cream cheese frosting. Can this type of frosting be used ina icing bag with diffrent tips? I would say "yes" but would the designs hold thier shape? for example, if i were to pipe a cream cheese border will it hold its shape or kinda get gloopy and melt? Anyone? THanks in advance!

I have never had success with piping cream cheese icing but maybe someone else on here can help. Here is a recipe for crusting cream cheese icing that was posted by alimonkey, I've never tried this recipe though:

i just made cream cheese frosting last night. The trick to piping with it is to chill the icing first. it gets soft fast so make sure it is cold before putting it in the bag. I did cornelli lace and shells and it piped just fine.
Try out the recipe in the link MrsMissey posted. I got if off another post from this site by gdixoncakes who lives here in Austin too but hadn't tried it yet. The first time I made it I think I left out a bunch of powdered sugar but it still survived, even though it didn't look like it would. It held its shape fine since it's a crusting icing, but I didn't have any luck at all with roses. The second time I made it it was beautiful (still no luck with roses, even with added sugar) and didn't even bleed when I put black icing on light pink.

I usually just add some more icing sugar to stiffen up the frosting, then I'm able to pipe a shell border with it.
The recipe I use is:
1 block of cream cheese
1/2 cup butter (not margarine)
4 cups icing sugar
1.5 - 2 tsp. vanilla (to your liking)
