No cake this week but lots of fun in my other career! Went to the Rib Cook Off in Reno which was very good eats!

Just throwing up some pictures of what I did for the weekend. I did a few other cakes but didn't take any pictures of those.

This is possibly one of my favorite cakes ever, it's based off of Oaxacan embroidery.

And for fun, a s'more pie I made for my boss' birthday, unfortunately, I didn't realize we recently got rid of out torch and couldn't brown the top.

Love the embroidery on that cake! Beautiful colours... And that pie just looks delish... We don't eat enough sweet pie in our house! How many cakes do you do per weekend? I only do one a week, sometime two but that really pushes me - I run an online business from home as well as two small kids so time is not abundant! This is my one for this week - peppa pig, done to death I'm sure! First attempt at balloon, so I'm quite pleased :)

Very cute, I don't know why but I'm loving the little fence.

Thanks! I do probably between 20-30 cakes a week with decoration, and a ton more without, but I work at a bakery full time. My position is as a cake decorator, so depending on the day I either come in and get all our a la carte cakes ready for the day before working on decorating orders, or if I'm in later I usually just jump on orders right away. Most of the week I'm the only one doing cakes, then for friday and saturday (and the occasional busy weekday) more people will decorate with me. I do some work on the side, but it's usually once every week or 2. I have a bit of free time at home so I get to experiment on things like s'more pie and what ever else strikes my fancy.

Meg, I do love the embroidery cake! It just looks like it's real embroidery! But I'm truly in love with your birds of paradise! SO pretty! LOL on the smores cake...now I'm tempted to do one too! I don't have a torch either so I'm going to have to figure that one out first!

Ana, your pig cake is simply adorable! Great job on the balloon! The "lines" in the fence is what does it for me. That little bit of extra detail just makes it all come together for me.

This is a three tiered vanilla cake (4", 6", 8") with vanilla frosting tinted a light pink with an all natural food coloring.  I used edible orchids on the cake, so they can actually be served with the cake and eaten.  While I have done fondant before, this is my first stacked cake I have done with just buttercream as well as using the edible flowers. The orchids have a slightly sweet tangy taste, which I think offsets the frosting a bit.    Because the flowers are edible, they do not require anything special to place them on the cake, so I added a bit of frosting and placed them at will.

The cakes are wonderful this weekend.  The cake with the frosting embroidery is really terrific.  Hmm... that is a technique I might have to borrow ;-)

The little pig cake is really well done and so cute!  I wish i had the ability shown on that cake as well.

I love seeing such detailed sugar cookies, so time consuming I know but they turn out so pretty!

Just lovely everyone!  I love the Peppa Pig cake!  You did such a great job, and I love how you decorated the cake board.  Makes such a big difference!

The embroidery cake is amazing too!  I've always been more of a fondant person, but I'm beginning to work more in buttercream and really enjoying it!

I only had two cakes and 2 orders for simple cupcakes this week, but with my littles around all week & a million playdates/activities/getting ready for school errands it was a crazy week for sure!

This is something like the 12th Frozen cake of this style that I've done.  Normally I do only a few snowflakes, but this customer wanted them all over.  As I made the fondant Elsa & Anna I kept telling myself this is the LAST time I take this design order and I CAN NOT bring myself to make this thing one more time!  I've done other Frozen designs and always offer other Frozen design options, but kids/parents see this and want just this.  It is driving me crazy!

I'm incredibly disappointed with the buttercream cake.  They requested an in joke be on the cake "Funny, Funny...Not Funny."  It was about 4 in the morning when I started decorating it and my kids had both woken up twice while I was working, I had a ton of stuff to move so a fridge could be delivered in the AM, and we were having guests come at 10am, so I was even shakier than usual and just needed it done.  Definitely not my best moment as a decorator

The cupcakes were for a teacher appreciation luncheon and I was going to just do simple buttercream swirls, but at the last minute I couldn't do it and had to dress them up a bit.  Took the opportunity to play with some petal dust and didn't love how it came out, but the teachers were thrilled.

Mattyeatscakes, thank you!  The Elsa & Anna are 100% marshmallow fondant so they can taste good when they are eaten with the cake.  Yes, it does take forever.  :-D

I love your wedding shower cake!  Love the clean lines & blue and yellow are gorgeous together!  Beautifully done!

AMegpi, that embroidery cake is gorgeous! So unique I have never see anything like it!

anaelisabethlee, the peppa pig cake is amazing, so perfectly executed and the ballon is awesome

Frostedmoon, I'm over frozen in general! With 3 kids I have had enough--but that cake is amazing, the Anna and Elsa--just wow! I have done a couple with Olaf, but too scared to attempt the girls.

Thank you for the compliment cakeddc!  I'm lucky in that my 7 year old daughter is not in to disney princesses at all.  We had to convince her to go see Frozen!  I'm sure making them would be even worse if it was constantly around my house, too!  Now Stars Wars, that's another story...

Love everyone's gorgeous cakes!  Louglou, I think that couch cake is wonderful!  Reenrules, both your cakes are awesome!  It looks like I could pick that camera up & start taking photos!

A birthday cake for a gym rat!

I'm always blown away by the artists on this site!! Practice and hard work pay off.

I've just recently started making cake again since having my first child. It is so difficult chasing after an 11 month old and keeping the groove for a project. I'm slowly learning how to keep the peace! I work part time also, so I can only manage one or two (<- that's pushing it) per week.  I hope it gets easier lol.

This is a birthday cake for my friend's husband. He enjoys long sessions at the gym. We figured this design would be perfect. The quote is from one of my hubby's friends. They're both a gym rats as well!!
