I just got a request to do an armadillo cake to serve about 50 people for a rehearsal dinner.  I was going to layer several 8X12 layers and will have to shape it some to make the body.  Any suggestions on how many layers?  I was thinking 4...does that sound about right or would three be sufficient?

Thanks in advance!

two 8x12s will serve 48 so 4 would be plenty and you could carve to your heart's content -- you could probably get away with three -- just depends on the dimensions you're going to use -- because you want enough height -- and you're never sure how the sculpture will be served either so erring on the side of too much is how i do it -- i think it's a plan
