I am going to be making a Ramone car from the Movie Cars, and am going to airbrush it purple. I want to do the sides with the yellow/orange/red flames, but wasn't sure how to mask this area off so it doesn't get purple. (I know how to do it with non edible masking but how do you do it on fondant?) I was thinking of cutting butcher paper to the flames and maybe sticking it on with royal icng and holding down the edges? Any other ideas?

Thanks!

Oh I will! I have been very excited about this cake..its the first time I used modeling sugar (I guess that is what it is called..it taste like tutty fruity gum..it is easier to work with then Fondant, and dries nicely!) for the wheels and other little features on the car, then am going to cover it with Fondant and go from there for design.

I am doing the cake tomorrow, so will post a photo then!

Your car is 100% brilliant. I love it. Did you use the airbrush? if you did then it came out prefect. Well Done

Yes, I used the airbrush and some sparkle dust to give it some more debt..

The one thing I noticed about airbrushing fondant is the funny little dimples in the fondant the airbrush color picks up. Any hints on that?

Glad you like the cake! I had a great time making it!!!
