All,

I am thinking of taking the plunge and getting and edible image system. I like epson printers, but from reading past threads, there was some concern that you could not remove the print head to clean it, and therefore it it got clogged, you had to throw out the entire printer.

Has this been anyone's experience? I would be printing a few images a year, definitely casual use.

What have been your experiences? I could really use some input before buying. I think I am definitely going to buy though.

Thanks!

Mine hasn't clogged but I've only had it a few months. I've printed about 8 images so far. I know there are others that have had epsons for awhile and hopefully they will respond.

I have had mine for the past 6 months (I hope thats the right for for that verv)
We use it at the shop were we print some 10 prints a week, if it's stays with out use for two days, you have to press self clean on the printer, some times for 3 tomes before is ok, and allways run a taste on plain paper before using the most expencive one.
I would say that is you are only using it casually, get it from a store, let them deal with all the frustraiting prints, and you'll get only the good ones.

Problem is that from what I heard, stores can be very picky about what they print. For instance, my daughter wants a high school musical cake. I doubt I can bring in the HSM picture and they will print it. So I figured I could get it for home use, and would probably find more things to do with it.

Buy it - LOVE mine! Had it for about a year and it has never clogged. Got it for under $90 for the printer, cartridges about $70 I think. Pages come out to about $2 each, better than up to $12 or $24 at the supermarket.

Too expensive and time consuming at the stores and they dont always come out right because usually the software they have is not very good. If you have someone who doesn't really know what they are doing that really stinks and you end up waiting a LONG time. Plus the 3 stores near me that do it - half the time their printers are broken!

Also true, some stores will not print out copywrited images. I use it all the time now. If I want a character on a cake, I print out an edible image and pipe over it, or cut them out and place on fondant, etc... enless uses!

I have an Epson Stylus C88. It's fine for my occasional uses. I have never had it clog up but it does go through black ink quickly. Also another downside is it holds 4 different cartridges and if you run out of only 1 of the colors, it will not print. But it has very beautiful vibrant colors.

Edited to add it is also cheap! I paid around $60

I have the epson CX4200 which is a scanner/copier/printer and got it on ebay for under $70 so you might want to check there. The guys even threw in a USB cable free of charge and I had it within a week.

Tiggy2 - You really did get a great deal on ebay. I won an Epson cx4800 a couple of weeks ago and got it for 66.00 brand new. However, I now have to go purchase the USB cable. I'm not sure how much they are. You can get some great deals on ebay, for sure...

OK, I DID IT!!!!!!

I ordered the Epson C88 printer from Amazon, and my supplies from Copycake. I got the chip resetter, set of ink cartridges, and the icing sheet assortment.

So I got everything for just under $200. I'm so excited, you really don't know HOW LONG I have been wanting to get this system. YEAH!

Did you buy the chip resetter because you are going to use the ink refills? Did you buy the refills from KopyKake? Thanks
