I was wanting to know how to attach my fondant roses to the cake that is buttercream. The flowers are formed onto wire wrapped with floral tape. I read somewhere that I had to use a flower spike or gumpaste ball. Can you explain how to use the gumpaste ball?

Is it really ok to use floral tape on something that will go on a cake?

TIA!

Yes it is because the tape doesn't actually go into the cake that is going to be eaten. A gumpaste ball is literally just that a ball of gumpaste which is stuck to the top of the cake and the flower wires are pushed into it. This is then removed before serving the cake
