I am making another cookie bouquet for this weekend. The bouquet is another classic car theme. The first one I made was ok for my first attempt, but I would like to be able to get more detail on the cookies. I'm wondering if anyone has any techniques they can share with me for trying to have my cars look more realistic. Unfortunately I'm not a very good artist. I attempted making a royal icing plaque that I thought I could glue onto the cookie with a little icing. The plaque looked great, but when I tried to remove it from the wax paper it just crumbled ---So Much For That!

Try outlining the windows and doors with contrasting color or black even.
Make the plaque right on the cookie. Outline where you want it to be and make that area a different color, maybe use silver luster dust.

I like Sherry's idea. You could also try and add people inside the cars, some racing stripes.

I usually flood my cookies and then add detail in royal of a stiffer consistence once they have set up.

Thanks for the suggestions. I baked the cookies today and will be decorating them tomorrow night and Thursday. I baked extras so that I can try different things and see what I like best. One of the things I will try is outlining in black. Thanks again.

Price,
Your bouquet was really pretty. Maybe you should try making the plaque on parchment paper instead of wax paper and then "glue" it on using royal icing or something. Just a suggestion icon_biggrin.gif

I finally finished the bouquet last night. Thank goodness it's done! I could never make a living at cookie bouquets! lol. I outlined and added some of the details in black and I think it did help. I need alot of improvement on my lettering both on my cookies and cakes, but I'm hoping that will come with more experience. Thanks for the suggestions.

You did a great job on your cookie bouquet! I wish I was better at doing cookies too. I just never have any extra time to play around with it!
