ASo 1 leg is basically 3 different pieces. The "main" piece is 5 inches long and then there are 2 more pieces that are each 2 inches long. So you would attach 1 piece to make a 7 inches leg, add the 3rd piece to make it 9 inches long. In the picture in that link, you can see that one leg is 3 separated pieces, and you can attach them together. Makes sense?
AThe little separator in the middle can be easily taken off. And it's ok, I was confused about the sps too until I ordered it, and it all makes sense once you see it.
Thanks for trying to help me understand this!
So that pack comes with 6 five inch supports - enough for 1 and a half tiers? And that's $6 plus the price of the plates? Do you let the plates actually touch the bottom tier?
I really like driving that center dowel all the way through a one inch base. This doesn't need that? (Of course since it's impossible). How many tiers can you deliver with this sort of set up. Like a 4 tier cake, 5 tiers? 6 even?
A1 pack comes with 12 legs. It says on the description on the website. You need 4 legs for 1 plate, therefore 1 pack will be enough for 3 plates. You can do a 4 tier cake with 1 bag of the legs. Of coarse you will need to order the plates separately.
The plates have a little spike on the top that you punch through the cake board so it prevents it from sliding. There is no need for a center dowel. I use double sided carpet tape in between the plate and the board for added security. The largest I have delivered was a 3 tier without any problems. If I were to deliver any larger then I would stack only 2 tiers for traveling , and finish stacking them on site.
