AHi, im making a 3 tiered cake soon and was looking for advice. Im covering each cake in fondant which have turned out ok so far. I was wondering what brand would be a good one to use that isnt hugely expensive and a mat? I have a silicone one but the fondant always sticks to it and doesnt come off. I want my cakes to have a better finish. Anyone help???

ATry out different brands of paste to see which one you like.

AHi Cake Tin, I'm from South Wales. We had a conversation about this on the UK thread last week. From what everyone was saying Covapaste (Amazon, ebay, around £20 for 5 kg), couture covering (not sure about price and stockists) and Sugarpaste Direct (Sugarpaste Direct, similar price to covapaste I think) are the best. I use Tesco's own, I get on with it quite well but some hate it! Someone said Asda's is good but I've never tried it. Most agreed that Renshaws is far too soft and sticky. Have a look in the UK thread, ask on there as well, they're lovely, very helpful and patient. :-)
