Royal Icing Flowers

Can royal icing flowers be added to buttercream  iced cakes.  If so, do I attach with RI  and does it have to be last minute .   I worried the icing will melt the RI flowers

AThe RI will take moisture from the butter cream over time. ( not sure of the RI element will loose its shape or not because I have never tried this) but if you applied them LAST minuet it might work out.
