I need to do a tinkerbell cake for this Friday and plan on doing a bct for it. What Wilton colors do I use to make the flesh color for tinkerbell. I saw that Americolor has a good shade but I do not have time to order it online and I have never seen Americolor at any stores.

Thanks,
Mich

I dip a toothpick in brown and then add a tiny speck of red to achieve a really nice skintone. Brown and orange will acheive similar results. It's the same thing I do with oil painting. I've only done it with white fondant...but I'm sure it will work for any type of icing. Put very little.... mix well...and add more if you need to....once you add too much there is really no turning back.

Good luck!

I always use just a touch of ivory for flesh tone. It will darken up a bit the longer it sits, but I like it. Have you seen the cute Tinkerbell cakes in the gallery? Good Luck.

I did a Tinkerbell cake. It's in my photos.. I was working the emergency shelters for hurricane Katrina and just didn't have time to do any better on the cake than I did... I started my day at 4:30 a.m. and got home from workin at the shelter at approximately 10:30 p.m. to start the cake ... I got to bed around 3:00 a.m. the next morning; got an hour sleep and started all over again ... my heart just wasn't in the cake and you can tell it by the photo ... It was for family, who should have understood, but didn't even bother to call me to tell me not to worry about doing the cake...as a matter of fact, I had to call them to make sure it was ok .. all I got was, "oh yes, it was fine" ... nothing more, nothing less.. .. I'm now telling my husband's side of the family I'm out of the "birthday cake" business.. they live over an hour and a half from where I live, which means another family member that lives in my area has to pick it up from my house to take it where they live... all I get for my trouble is the cost of the cake and not a cent more is offered... so thus why I'm telling them I'm out of the birthday cake business.... sorry for venting..

P.S. did another cake for this person's child... Told her I had 2 wedding cakes and grooms cake to do... I got the sob story that there were no cakes in her area that taste good and she couldn't get an order filled at any of the bakeries... so I did a sheet cake and a smash cake for their 1 year old.. no payment, no thank you, nothing!!! so thus why I'm out of the birthday cake business for my husband's side of the family .. he even agrees with this and said I'm being taken advantage of ... *sigh*

ntertayneme - Your Tinker Bell Cake is too cute. I think you did a wonderful job. And considering the situation you were in, I know mine wouldn't have turned out nearly as good. The most important thing is that you were there helping the people from the hurrican.

And I can totally relate to family not appreciating you. My Sister in law I swear is in a world of her own.
