Has anyone come across this news story? Sounds like there's quite an interesting back story to it!
http://news.ninemsn.com.au/world/2014/01/06/11/22/woman-receives-poo-cake-at-engagement-party
oh my gosh--the nerve of a genuine party pooper--
there was a case in west memphis arkansas i beleve it was where a chick got jail time for putting exlax in the icing and got peeps sick--this is bad but it could be worse--
this is the worst manners in the world--
talking about doing this sure--making one to get out frustration with leftover cake or something yeah maybe--but to deliver it in sucha sneaky way--horrid
i'm so torn--i'm trying to be horrified but it's ridiculously funny
edited to say--exlax is a brand of laxative
From what I read, the customer already owed the cake maker money for other services and hadn't paid her. Then the customer shows up with a cake voucher for $50 and wanted a cake for that price even though she still owed the baker money. The baker gave her a $30 cake because the client asked for Chocolate and was not specific about the style. lol Something to that effect.
This is what the baker posted on her FB:
Don't be stupid and ask for photos (with a CAKE voucher you won) get angry at me when I have to cancel because of the weather.... reschedule the next day.... don't show up and make some lame arse excuse about sending a message and making a call to my cell (bull****!!) then demand a $50 cake with the voucher - then remembering you owe me $20 for travel to take your family photos in the first place.... your left with a $30 voucher and you want a cake still?? ok cool - give me some ideas?? - oh wait you have none apart from wanting chocolate, I have a brilliant idea for your cake!!!! - so here it is your turd cake! Hope you learn your lesson.
AAlso of note is that the baker is a self-described hobbyist and apparently does not run a business.

what's awful is the honoree at the event was not even a participant in the deal gone bad--she just happened to be the sister --
this could have been pretty funny but that's the wrong way to right a wrong
cakedom's flag is flying at half mast--not cool
and basically over twenty bucks or something? smh
This was done in very poor taste. The baker may claim to be a hobbyist but she is selling cakes and issuing vouchers so it is a business; may not be a legal business but a business none the less. Maybe she will give more thought to her marketing strategy and stop issuing vouchers, then it would be as simple as not providing the customer with a cake until she is paid up. Of course then there is the other side of me that thinks the cake was done really well.
