Fondant Cracking After Placement..
Decorating By thebakedcupcake Updated 16 Dec 2013 , 1:47pm by thebakedcupcake
I am a very novice baker, everything I've made so far is a first attempt. So over the weekend I created a "present" cake for my mother's birthday, and when I covered my cake in fondant it didn't crack once. But, once I placed my ribbons and bow those all ended up cracked. Curious if there are some tips out there to help me in the future with things like this, if I can prevent it, or fix it in some way? All help is highly appreciated!!

Side note: This was my first time to really work with fondant this much, I used satin ice.
Use gumpaste and rub a little shortening on your hands and the knead the gumpaste, this will help stop the cracking.
