I have a 1/2 sheet cake that has to be completed by Friday night (it's for an early party saturday) Could I bake it tonite & start on it and it still be fresh Saturday when it's cut? (being left in cake box unrefrigerated) It's going to be covered in BC, and will have a fondant covered Bible laying on top of it. There is one like it in the gallery I found made by gibson and it's very similar to my original idea...

Do I need to put anything under the Bible for support or anything? Should I cut a small cake board or something to put under it? What about dowels? Or should I just not worry about it to begin with?
I don't have any experience w/ stacked cakes or whatever, so I thought I'd ask. Better safe than sorry right? LOL. Thanks for any help ![]()
Is the bible going to be cake - if so then put on a board with dowel rods to support it from sinking into the cake.
Fondant only - you may want to a smaller board to prevent fondant from getting soft from the frosting. Use dowel rods to support to.
You can bake the cake and freeze tonight. Crumb coat and then put final frosting on.
Earenle Moore crumbs coats her cakes and lets them sit out over night then final frosting and decorating.
If you look at my photos the dragon was crumb coat on a Thursday night, 90 of detail done on Friday night and the face was complete on Saturday morning. The cake was for Sunday for my son's parts. No cake was left over and my husband it was great . Also like I do for my other parties the cake is bake about 4 weeks ahead of time to save me time along with my frosting.
Good luck and look forward to seeing the final cake.
