I was asked to make a blob fish cake and the only way I thought o form it was cake pop, has anyone ever made a large cake from the mix of cake pop?

AI'm not sure what a blob fish is but people use 'cake pop' cake mix for their 3D cakes. For example a dog- most would be made of cake but legs and tail formed with cake pop cake mix- hope that helps?
