Anniversary Ideas - Teacher & Miner

I just had an inquiry for a 50th Anniversary cake. They want to do something that combines their professions... a teacher and a coal miner. Does anyone have any ideas for this one that would seem cohesive?

The picture that popped into my mind is a couple, as on top of a wedding cake, only the woman is dressed nicely and holding an apple and a ruler and the man is in overalls and hard hat "dusted" as if with coal dust, but they are gazing lovingly at each other.

 

Unless of course the woman is the coal miner and the man is the teacher. :)

 

The other decorations could just be in their favorite colors (swags, ropes, dots, whatever).
