My First Man Stand Cake- Modeling Chocolate Or Fondant?

I need to make panels (about 2 1/2'') hanging off the cake. What would be the best for this chocolate clay, fondant, or maybe a mixture of both? I'll be traveling 3.5 hours with it and I'm not sure which one would be the strongest for traveling, and won't slide down the cake. Also would you suggest a thin layer of BC for this or frost as usual?
I can't 'picture' what you mean. Man stand? Panels? Hanging off? Do you have a picture or something you are using as inspiration for this that you can post?
Ok, thanks. I had to google all that, but I see it now. Sorry, though, I've never done anything quite like that, so I can't help. Good Luck.
Oh trust me I thought about making it quite a few times, but I had no idea what the stand actually looked like, what size it was...ect. The next time I need to make something like this I now understand what I'll need to put the frame together.
So do you have any idea what I might be stronger for the armor and skirt, fondant or modeling chocolate? Michigan roads are awful so I need something that will hold up to all the bumps.
I did make the face tonight out of modeling chocolate and it looks awesome! My first time making chocolate and working with it.
AThank you everyone, Its 3 ft. tall. I used RKT for the arms and legs then coverd with moldeling chocolate. The body is cake covered with fondant. Since we were traveling so far I knew the head wouldn't make it so carved styrofoam. This was my first time working with chocolate an doing a standing cake.
