Hello Cupcakemaker. Question from decorating newbie please. Which brand brand of fondant do you use or recommend?
Hi there all you Brits I am from Northern Ireland, believe it or not but Ilike asdas fondant the best. How long have you all been making cakes.
AI love squires fondant! I'm trying Bako at the moment, it tastes lovely. Not covered a cake with it yet just some boards. I really like Windsor cake craft's fondant too.

Not quite London, but a UK member here. I'm with you on this one. I also use Asda's Fondant. The best so far. When I want black or red Fondant I order Renshaw online.
I make my own Gumpaste/Flowerpaste though.
I think a Meet up is a great idea. I'd love to take part. I'll be heading down to London for a couple of days on the second week of next month anyway, depending on the date, if I can I'd love to stop by. Would be great to talk Cake with Cake Decorators like myself.
AI'm manchester! I like asda's too. Tesco's is not as good. I really like covapaste x x
AYes they do and it's the cheapest I have found per kilo than anywhere else. If you ganache and have sharp edges you need to be quick and careful so it doesn't tear where as the covapaste has a bit more durability, but if you get the technique right there is nothing wrong with the stuff! I also use Aldi and lidl cheap dark chocolate for ganache. Works a dream.
Welcome. If you are new to CC there is a humungous thread called 'a thread for uk' or something. It has LOTS of tips about uk stockists, and uk brand equivalents to the usa for what we are reading about on here. Some of our terminology is slightly different. There are some truly inspirational bakers on here with fantastic talent. I can only dream to be that good
Thanks for replies and tips and yes would be great if we did plan meet up at some point...Cake Central London Branch
I was asking about the fondant because I used the Wilton brand which was really good but a bit pricey for my level of expertise so thought to stick to supermarket brand for now and wondering the better of the lot.
I stumbled on the Lidl brand once which was quite good but can't seem to get hold of anymore. Actually I'm trying to remember if it was Lidle or Aldi brand?
I recently tried the Sainsbury's brand and was really soft. Wont be using again!
Can I say hello to you Londoners? I'm in Texas, but I have a cake order this week for someone who lives in London (she's in London, but the cake is going to someone here). Makes it feel a bit like a small world
