Small Polks Dots/cupcakes

Good Morning--
I wanted to know how to make small polka dots inside of a regular sized cupcake. I don't want to use the method where they bake the cake pops and pour the batter over the pops.
I am thinking a layer of batter, small dots of colored batter and then another layer of batter.
Hope my questions makes sense.

That's how I would do it...maybe one or two on top too? good luck!
maybe do a few and bake them to see if you need to change anything before doing a whole tray.
