ADoes she call her local takeout place and ask for their recipes?
"Thank you, I would be happy to make her one, since she loved it so much! Here is my price list."
I am so happy she liked my cake however the recipe is a trade secret.
There is this Thai place that is amazing. I actually was picking up food there a couple of weeks ago and this lady was getting two tubs of their yellow curry sauce, she said she was having a dinner party but couldn't make sauce like theirs so she was cheating! She was cooking the meat and vegetables and than adding their sauce.
Once upon a time, I worked in a bakery...brought in some of my cake because the owner was curious. Then he told me he would buy my recipe for my frosting...um, nope...didn't even consider it! Nice guy; loved working for him and it was quite a compliment. Through the years, many have asked for the recipe and I politely decline. It is what the people remember most..not too sweet and very tasty.

There's one Thai restaurant I like because of their salad dressing (and their Pad See Ew). I asked for the dressing recipe and they gave it to me. It makes about 8 gallons! I have yet to try to cut it down to a manageable size.and try to make it.
AI love Thai restaurant salad dressing. Drool. I bought every salad dressing I could find at the Asian grocery store trying to figure out which one was the most similar (the answer was none).
