Good. Goodbye. You want to sell these things, but you don't want questions? This was advertising pure and simple.

Agreed...OP squandered a great opportunity to professionally address the points brought up in this thread.

ACarrie789 no it was not. I have other avenues for that when the time comes. Yes I do want to sell them one day. But to date have only made them for friends and family as it's a hobby and wondered what people thought. Think what you like. I am happy for people's questions about them, but when people are being rude and not listening to what my answer is, it is not very nice and feels like I am under attack for posting clay toppers on here. Everyone is entitled to their opinion but there is no need to be rude with it. As I said in my previous post all my toppers have grease proof bottom so are not directly in contact with the cake. That was the issue of them being food safe sorted. I was told via an email from cc asking about the site to post pics of my work on here and to enter a monthly competition, so didn't think this was wrong of me if they have said it was ok.

It's good that you post.  And since I make toppers also, I like seeing your creations.  They are a natural addition to cakes and we will all learn from one another.

ALynn3 thank you that's all I wanted to do was get constructive criticism and talk about tips and ideas with other people who enjoy doing the same things.

AK8 Memphis thank you that's very kind of you to say so. You restore my faith in cc that not everyone is out to get me for enjoying a hobby. Thanks again xxxx

AYou definitely do great work, but it's easy to see how this could be viewed as an ad. The title of the thread reads like a tagline, your screen name appears to represent "The London Clay Company", and you started off with pictures of your products. If the title was something like "What do you think of these clay cake toppers" and you started the first post with an explanation that you were interested in getting feedback the thread might have been received differently.

It's also a good idea to just ignore someone when you perceive them as being rude, or at least selectively respond to only their legitimate points while ignoring everything else.

If they can be made from clay, they can be made from gum paste, so then there won't be any question of toxic/non toxic.

Jason,

I have seen many nice people bullied by CC members that somehow feel they own the forum.

It's sad because there's very few places for Cakers to share and help one another. It's a shame that the smart mouth and/or rude members don't just stop.

They ruin a nice forum for no reason.

Don't worry too much about it. There is a learning curve for everything, and now you have some tips for posting threads in the future.

Most people here are very nice but the lack of non-verbal cues in online communication can sometimes lead people to mistake direct and honest feedback for rudeness or bullying, so it's helpful for everyone if you assume the best intentions when you read a post.

Unless you read a post with name-calling or personal attacks, then I find it's usually safe to just ignore the whole post. :D

It may be transferable but the reason I'm using clay is so it can be kept as a memento as well as serving a purpose. This can't be done with sugar paste. Steadler the makers of the clay I use have confirmed that it is food safe and ok to stand on cakes
