Can You Help Me Prevent This Again??

HELP what went wrong and how to fix it?
I have a feeling I tried to smooth this out with the bc frosting too crusted.
How do I prevent this and or fix it?

Thanks !!

PS: if the attachment dosen't work its the bowling pin and ball cake in my photos.

Not sure whats wrong I think your cake looks great. If you wait to long to smooth your cake you will press the wrinkles down intead of smoothing them out.

Maybe I'm looking at the wrong thing, but I don't see a thing wrong with the bowling ball ???

When you are getting ready to smooth make sure the BC only air dries for MAX 15 minutes IF even that long. I've had some take only 5 minutes to dry but have had others take 30 minutes to dry so I would test it in a small area that can't really be seen just run your finger tip over it gently and see if it's dry enough to smooth. icon_smile.gif

edited to add: I didn't see anything WRONG with the cakes they looked great but I know what the problem is because I've had it happen to me a few times and the way the pictures don't always show all the flaws we bakers see face to cake with our creations icon_smile.gif

Thanks for your input. I guess i didnt smooth that hard because the bc would stick to the paper towel and then i'd have to start all over to let that crust.

I just realized there are 2 bowing ball cakes! Its the pink one with the pin.

looks to me like you waited a bit too long. the time required varies with temp, the thick/thinness of the icing, the type of icing, etc.
