Cotton Candy On Cake?

AJust wondering if I made cotton candy to look like clouds will it melt on buttercream?

AYes it will melt. it is spun sugar. once the humidity hits it it will start to melt not to mention the fats in the buttercream

A^^ yup. I put cotton candy "spiderwebs" on a cake once. Melted almost instantly

I did it for two cakes I made - one was clouds on buttercream and one was fluffly snow (but on fondant so that one was ok).

I put the cotton candy on the bc took a picture came back 15 min later,  Gone.  I made it for a colleague's son as a favor. Luckily I had more cotton candy left so I handed it to her separately and told her to put it on the cake when they were ready to eat the cake.  That disappearing cotton candy magic trick is like a Las Vegas act!
