I fail to see why google adwords is set up so poorly for users! A five year old could design a better functioning website than what they currently have.

Does anyone find it easy to use?

I dislike it's organization. I find it very unclear. It's hard to make corrections and or 'go back' to fix things, etc...

Is confusion designed intentionally into their design, so you buy more than you want because they are so unclear? wtf

AI've never had a problem with it.

There are some highly-rated books out there if you want a guide to AdWords, here is one:

I agree with the OP. I too found it very strangely organized for a 1st time user. I never got books on tips on how to use adwords. I believe the company that I use for my website domain sent out a gift certificate for adwords and I didn't have any prior knowledge on it.

I spent an entire Sunday fiddling with it and kept changing things.

It's quite effective. I got business from it while it was running.

If they sell a book on the topic, than the website owner isn't doing a great job with their product. Yes, I got it to work for me, but is it set up to my best advantage.....I don't know. You can't double check the product unless you have access to other peoples computers to search on.

When I do my own search it doesn't come up under all the search words I want it to.....urg...

I've never used it, but I can see it being a computer snob thing. They are well aware that a lot of the users will be web developers and web developers and software designers are a complicated and competitive community.  Maybe their competitive nature overtook common sense. Common sense is not something the geek community is especially well known for. My father was a computer whiz and math genius, but he found normal people and conversations to be completely inscrutable. I can't picture him understanding how to design a user friendly environment for anyone other than people like himself.

I've seen proprietary software that was poorly designed because of a lack of understanding of the users, but I'd expect google would have some of the best people able to do this well. So if they fell short, it's probably intentional.

I agree that this isn't for the "creative" type, lol. Unless you have knowledge in web advertising it isn't user friendly. I would have liked to see more examples of what options I am exactly choosing.

Anyone else feel like it cuts you off? After I'd enter my choices I couldn't go back and relook at it. You enter your info. than it instantly goes into their system for their approval (which can take a couple days) I can't re-look at my ad until it's live online.

There's no spell check and once you realize you've typed something incorrectly you can't go back and fix it with-out going through the wait for approval and them publishing your incorrect ad.

Yesterday I made a stupid mistake and purchased a book "Ultimate Guide To Google AdWords"............what was I thinking..........the second they published that book it was out dated!!! My screen options aren't like the screen options that were around when they wrote that book! DUH!! Now I get to go back and return it.....

On the bright side, I got my first phone call and purchase from it with-in the first two days it aired! WOO HOO!

I'm a computer dumbo..I would rather stick a fork in my eye or light myself on fire than try to set up adwords..or bing ads or any other web advertising. It about killed me just trying to set up my webpage..yeah..I'm THAT bad.

I have a few ad credits that I received from GoDaddy from setting up my website and now I need to figure out how to use the goofy things.
