I just purchased some dummy cakes for practice. I was a dummy icon_redface.gif and forgot to ask how to use them. Of course someone here will know. Do I need to cover them with something before I put icing on it? Thanks icon_biggrin.gif

You can also use them without covering them....just put the icing on and when you are finished practicing, just wash it off!

I made my own dummy cakes from styrofoam. I went to Lowe's and bought a sheet of 2in thick styrofoam....I think it was about $20.00. I had them cut it in half (so it would fit in my SUV), then I cut out the sizes I needed. I have PLENTY left over, so I have plans to cut out all of the circle and square sizes.
I cut out two 10 in. circles and then two 12in. circles with a hand saw. It was a bit messy, so I did it in the garage. Then I glued each of them together. I did not cover them when I used them, but it worked just fine. The client was pleased.
