Hi y'all!!
The last cake I made was a Bridal Shower cake. I loved the way it turned out. However, I HATED coloring my fondant. I'm a little person and have small hands. I was trying to knead this huge ball of fondant and add coloring to it and it was taking forever. Plus it was hurting my hands and arms. Does anyone have any advice as to how to easily knead fondant???
Thanks,
Lazy_Susan
Hi!
I'm not sure I'm going to be all that much help, but I'll try. I have to do it in smaller batches. I've never been able to make a large batch of fondant come out right. I'll make smaller batches and color it, then add more fondant, knead it again, then add more color if I need to. I'm on the smaller side as well. I gave myself a migraine last time I tried to do a full batch of CHOCOLATE fondant! Whew, that stuff was dry!

Is there such a thing as a kneading machine??? LOL
Make your own!! It's so much easier and tastes much better. You add the coloring to the melted marshmellows and then add the sugar. I tried coloring fondant from the box once and it took forever and I ended up having my husband do all the work because it was just way to hard for me. Once you try the homemade way you'll never go back!! Good luck.
Ok, this might sound strange, but this is what I do.
I take the large ball of fondant. Shape it into a roll.
Then dot the colour along the length of the roll.
Fold the ends of the roll together.
Shape it into a roll again
Fold again.
Repeat often, until the colour is nicely spread through the fondant.
This just takes a few minutes and it is not hard on the hands and wrist. You are just pulling and folding the fondant.
At this stage it will not be evenly coloured.
Now you can knead the fondant. When you knead, do not use your finger-tips at all. They should stay absolutely clean.
Use the palms of your hands, and if necessary, your knuckles.
Works for me!
