Hi back again....3 tier Alice in Wonderland cake wedding cake! Well after much dithering over recipes I have baked the 12" which took ages to cook resulting in a over done edge and a sunken middle! Now its rested it doesn't look too bad, can I still use it? It is the base cake and will need to hold 2 tiers, I am worried it will be weak in the middle and will not hold the above tiers? I didn't realize how much mixture that size cake generates and I struggled with my bowls and mixer having never baked anything bigger than an 8" so I'd rather not have to re-bake?!

Your cake shouldn't actually bear the weight of the tier above, but I'd be more concerned that the middle wasn't properly cooked. If it were me, I'd take a little core out of the middle and taste it. Stick in an apple corer if you have one, or just cut out a section.
