I was wondering if someone could give me some tips on how to make a stalk of wheat, similar to this picture.

I'm mostly concerned with the think stalks sticking up - is it wires? Or do you think they're real stalks of wheat?

Yeah, those are real. I wouldn't even want to mess with trying to make those fine "hairs" on the tips.
