I need to make a coffee buttercream this week, the cake will have 'camp coffee' in it but for the buttercream do I?....

a; use camp coffee

b; use instant coffee

c; use percolated coffee...

The reason I'm using camp coffee is as the recipient uses it, and my niece is adamant to use what she knows her Mum will like! :)

AI'm not sure if Camp coffee is strong enough for buttercream? It's many, many years since I've used it. It's also sweetened, I think, and buttercream is sweet enough already!

I would use a good instant coffee.... A table spoon in a cup then add just enough hot water to make into a thick liquid. It will taste vile in its own like this, of course, but will give you a nice strong coffee flavoured buttercream! Just add bit by bit until you get the strength of flavour you like.

I use instant coffee and it's easy to adjust the strength of the coffee that way
