AI have tried several different cookie recipes and they have all been too hard or wouldn't hold their shape (spreading too much) or tasted bland.

Does anyone have a good recipe for cookies? I see these beautifully decorated cookies everywhere but again for the most part they are just rock hard. Any help or suggestions would be greatly appreciated!

Thank you!

I like this recipe: http://www.annies-eats.com/2010/04/02/sugar-cookies-revisited/

The key for me was not rolling the dough out too thin. Keep the cookies nice and thick, and they will stay soft for days.

I use the no fail sugar cookies recipe from this site.  They are soft but do not spread.  Personally I would prefer something with a bit of crunch. They are a bit bland but I add flavouring to my royal icing to help liven them up.
